At the Spring College Meeting we reviewed our progress towards implementing our 2012 strategic plan. The remainder of our meeting was devoted to exploring engaged teaching and learning. Professor Allison Castro Superfine from the UIC Department of Math, Statistics & Computer Science discussed ways to promote active learning in the classroom. The ideas generated from the small group discussions that followed will be evaluated by the AHS Teaching and Learning Committee for possible implementation.

Innovation Town Hall

May 15, 2014

The purpose of the Innovation Town Hall being held during the May 15 AHS College Meeting is to identify opportunities for enhancing our excellence in teaching, research and service. Using the college’s strategic plan as a starting point we want to identify and explore innovations in how we achieve our mission and vision.

A clear theme emerged from the May 15, 2014 Innovation Town Hall. That theme was interdisciplinary. Interdisciplinary cut across the ideas about research, teaching and community engagement discussed at the Innovation Town Hall.

Planning Our Future

August 24, 2012

On August 24, 2012 the College of Applied Health Sciences held a college-wide retreat at the Harold Washington Library to draft a plan for its future. Taking the ideas and goals generated by faculty and staff at the retreat, the college Executive Committee and department heads produced and approved a plan to guide the college over the next several years.

In the coming months additional meetings and ad-hoc groups will convene as needed to implement the plan. Updates and new information about the college’s planning efforts will be added here.
