AHS Alumni Awards

Nominate yourself or a classmate you admire for an AHS Alumni Award

We are immensely proud of our many accomplished alumni who are forging award-worthy careers in business, nonprofit, government and academia.

We honor several each year through the AHS Alumni Awards program:

  • AHS Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award
  • AHS Loyalty Award
  • AHS New Alum Award

Details on each award are below. Nominations can be made at any time.

Whenever possible, the college confers at least one award in each category. The 2017-18 award-winners will be recognized during AHS CELEBRATES in the spring. Honorees must be present to receive their awards.

AHS Distinguished Alumni Award

Established in 1987, this is the highest honor bestowed upon alumni of the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences (by the college’s current or former names). It is presented to alumni who have attained outstanding success and national or international distinction in their chosen profession or life’s work, and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on or bring honor to their alma mater.

Criteria

  • Nominee must be living at the time of their nomination. Nominations will be considered active for two years.
  • Must hold an earned degree or certificate from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Applied Health Sciences, under its current or any former name (College of Associated Health Professions or College of Health and Human Development Sciences).
  • Must be an individual who is highly distinguished nationally or internationally for his/her chosen business, profession or life’s work.
  • Must be a person of such stature, demonstrated ability and renown that fellow alumni, students, faculty and staff of the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences will take pride in and be inspired by his/her recognition.
  • Must be an individual who, in deed or in action, reflects the importance of his/her education at the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences.
  • The following individuals are ineligible for consideration:
    • Current members of the College of Applied Health Sciences Alumni Board
    • Current members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association board of directors
    • Current members of the Alumni Association Awards and Recognition Committee
    • Current members of the Campus Alumni Advisory Board
    • Relatives, employers or employees of any of the above
    • Current faculty, staff and other employees of the University of Illinois or the University of Illinois Alumni Association
    • Persons currently holding or running for elected state or federal public office in Illinois
    • Previous recipients of this award
  • The award may not be conferred in absentia; however, it may be granted posthumously.

AHS Loyalty Award

This award is bestowed upon alumni of the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences (by the college’s current or former names) who have made significant, notable and meritorious contributions, and who have consistently demonstrated exceptional loyalty, commitment, dedication and service to the college and/or one of its departments for the advancement of their alma mater.

Criteria

  • Nomination is required. Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination. Nominations will be considered active for two years.
  • Must hold an earned degree or certificate from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Applied Health Sciences, under its current or any former name (College of Associated Health Professions or College of Health and Human Development Sciences).
  • Must be an individual who, in deed or action, reflects and recognizes the importance of the UIAA; who demonstrates pride in his/her alma mater; and whose interest and loyalty are evident by his/her significant, notable and meritorious contributions to the college and department.
  • Must be an individual in whom fellow alumni, students, faculty and staff of the college will take pride and be inspired by his/her recognition.
  • The following individuals are ineligible for consideration:
    • Current members of the College of Applied Health Sciences Alumni Board
    • Current members of the UIAA board of directors
    • Current members of the Alumni Association Awards and Recognition Committee
    • Current members of the Campus Alumni Advisory Board
    • Persons currently holding or running for elected state or federal public office in Illinois
    • Previous recipients of this award
  • The award may not be conferred in absentia; however, it may be granted posthumously.

AHS New Alumn Award

UIC College of Applied Health Sciences alumni are a wide array of interesting and accomplished people. To celebrate, we honor up to two recent alumni (graduated within 10 years) whose careers and lives are on the rise.

Criteria

  • Nominee must be living at the time of his/her nomination. Nominations will be considered active for two years.
  • Nominee must hold an earned degree or certificate from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Applied Health Sciences, under its current or any former name (College of Associated Health Professions or College of Health and Human Development Sciences).
  • Nominee must have earned a degree from the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences within ten (10) years of the nomination date.
  • Nominee must be an individual in whom fellow alumni, students, faculty and staff of the college will take pride and be inspired by his/her recognition.
  • Nominee must be an individual who, in deed or in action, reflects the importance of his/her education at the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences.
  • The following individuals are ineligible for consideration:
    • Current members of the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences Alumni Board
    • Current members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association board of directors
    • Current members of the Alumni Association Awards and Recognition Committee
    • Current members of the Campus Alumni Advisory Board
    • Persons currently holding or running for elected state or federal public office in Illinois
    • Previous recipients of this award
  • The award may not be conferred in absentia.
