David Marquez, associate professor of kinesiology and nutrition at the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences, and director of the UIC Exercise Psychology Laboratory, was one of 17 nationally recognized experts appointed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve on the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee.

Released Nov. 13, the 2018 The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans provides evidence-based guidance to help Americans maintain or improve their health through physical activity. In this talk, Marquez will discuss the process involved in creating the guidelines, interpret the guidelines for various populations, and lead a discussion of public response.
