Bonnie Hughes came to UIC in January, 2013. Prior to coming to UIC, she worked at Rush University Medical Center since 1999. Her early roles at Rush were as a Financial Analyst in Corporate Finance, Fund Accounting department. In early 2003, Bonnie joined the team at the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center under the direction of Dr. David A. Bennett as Assistant to the Department Administrator. This position focused on both pre- and post-award for the Alzheimer’s Center, which at the time included 13 faculty members and a budget of over $10 million that included over 4 million annually in NIH funding. In March of 2006, she was selected to manage the Center for Compulsive Behaviors and Addiction, at Rush University, under the direction of Dr. T. Celeste Napier. This position was responsible for all pre- and post-grant coordination, all budgetary and fiscal management, as well as acting as liaison between the Center and more than a dozen clinical and administrative departments within Rush. In 2010, Bonnie worked as the Grants Specialist for the Department of Pharmacology as well as continuing her role as the Center for Compulsive Behaviors and Addiction Administrator.
