Lavender Graduation

Friday, April 28, 2017

5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Lavender Graduation, one of the Gender and Sexuality Center’s hallmark programs, is open to students from every UIC college. LGBTQA students throughout the years have testified that the prospect of walking in “Lav Grad” motivates them through tough times with juggling classwork and other obligations.

This year’s keynote speaker is Owen Daniel-McCarter, a transgender attorney, educator and advocate. Daniel-McCarter is the Executive Director of the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance where he supports gender inclusivity in schools, LGBT affirming curriculum, bullying prevention and restorative school discipline practices. He is also a founding collective member of the Transformative Justice Law Project, the former Legal Director of the TransLife Center and was an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University in Chicago.

Graduating student registration.
