A message from Dean Fernhall to AHS faculty and staff: We’re in this together

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for making our transition to a virtual work environment a success with relatively few issues. Since we resumed classes on Monday, only few problems have been reported and most have been resolved. Thank you!!!

I realize the extra workload and uncertainty can create stress and anxiety. Although it is normal to feel some stress and anxiety, it is also possible to feel overwhelmed. The UIC Counseling Center has developed helpful information on how to deal with an increased level of stress and anxiety. I also want to remind you that the State Employee Assistance Program is still operating and available to you. Please take advantage of these resources and make sure you take good care of yourselves.

It is important that all of us follow the stay-at-home order and practice social distancing. However, this does not mean that you cannot connect with people using digital applications. Take this opportunity to connect with family and friends on a regular basis using Zoom, WebEx, Skype or whatever platform you are comfortable with. In these difficult times we need to do what we can to stay connected. Finally, I also encourage you to participate in our Faculty and Staff Fridays this Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. via Zoom.

We’re in this together, and we’ll make it through together.

Stay safe!
Bo
