Krista Varady quoted in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette piece on potential benefits of fasting

KN associate professor Krista Varady is quoted in this Pittsburgh Post-Gazette piece titled, “Fasting is catching on as a way to slow aging, improve health.”

“There’s nothing [definitive] on cancer yet but it works on weight loss, retaining muscle mass and drops in [bad] LDL and increases in [good] HDL cholesterol,” said the associate professor in University of Illinois Chicago’s department of kinesiology and nutrition. The overriding problem is that “most Americans are kind of against it.”
