Publication available: Annette Valenta is the lead author of AMIA Board White Paper

BHIS professor Annette Valenta is the lead author of, “AMIA Board White Paper: AMIA 2017 core competencies for applied health informatics education at the master’s degree level” published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. The paper was the culmination of over a year of committee work chaired by Valenta to build the foundational domains for the discipline of health informatics.

“This is a key piece of work that memorializes the AMIA Accreditation Committee (AAC)-produced core competencies serving academic informatics programs.   But more specifically, through publication the white paper reinforces AMIA’s formal membership as an accreditation partner in the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).  Health informatics program accreditation is key component of the AMIA education ecosystem strategy.” – Jeff Williamson, Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs, AMIA
