Sandy Sufian is awarded a Eugene Washington Engagement Award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

Sandy Sufian was awarded a two-year $250,000 Eugene Washington Engagement Award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for her proposal “Engaging Virtually in the Age of COVID-19: Sharing Lessons and Creating Pathways for Transdisciplinary Research.”

The project will study how to build online infrastructure to highlight patient voices and broaden the reach and impact of virtual patient engagement efforts; how her previously-developed Cystic Fibrosis Reproductive and Sexual Health Collaborative virtual engagement tools, protocols, and materials can be used and adapted to respond to the needs of women with breast cancer and other patient populations; and how to create virtual patient-centered outcomes research infrastructure that expands PCORI’s stakeholder base to better reflect the multi-faceted nature of patient illness experiences and priorities.
