Sara Sherman receives a 2019 NSCA Foundation Women’s Scholarship

Sara Sherman is a second year Ph.D. student studying kinesiology and nutrition. She is a member of the Integrative Physiology Laboratory, which specializes in cardiovascular exercise physiology under the supervision of Tracy Baynard and Bo Fernhall. Sara’s research interests include investigating the effects of exercise on autonomic and other cardiovascular adaptations in persons with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. She is interested in extending the Exercise is Medicine campaign to be more inclusive and appropriate for all abilities,  particularly in terms of resistance training parameters, which have notoriously been overlooked in populations with a physical and/or intellectual disability.
