AHS Celebrates

Thursday, November 12, 2020

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The UIC College of Applied Health Sciences invites you to AHS Celebrates where you’ll connect with health professionals from various fields and disciplines; reflect on the contributions made by AHS alumni as educators, discoverers, collaborators and advocates; and learn how AHS is contributing to the efforts to understand COVID-19 and its impact on communities.

Join us to recognize three alumnae who are changing their professions with innovative thinking: Grace Baranek ’81 OT, an internationally known researcher on autism spectrum disorder, will be presented with the AHS Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Samantha Bond ’16 MS BVIS, an award-winning teacher and artist in biomedical visualization, will be presented with the AHS Loyalty Award. Laura Mraz ’10 MS OT, ’11 OTD, founder and CEO of two multidisciplinary therapy practices for children with disabilities, will be presented with the AHS New Alum Award.

Participate in one of three breakout sessions: “Being Closer with Social Distancing” presented by Deborah Davey; “Disability Culture Artists: Finding Beauty and Sharing Wisdom in the Time of Corona” presented by Carrie Sandahl; or “Understanding a Crisis within a Crisis: Food Insecurity, COVID and the Growing Need for Food Assistance in Chicago” presented by Angela Odoms-Young.

We look forward to your attendance.
