Lauren Elder

Lauren was born and raised in Troy, New York. In 2019, she graduated with a double major in Biological Sciences and Studio Fine Arts from Union College. After college, she was awarded a post-undergraduate fellowship to volunteer at a healthcare clinic in rural village Ddegeya, Uganda. After returning home, she worked in a molecular and cellular physiology research lab at Albany Medical College, where she studied the role of 3D morphology on in vitro models of breast cancer.
Lauren has been planning her career in Medical Illustration since she first learned of the profession in highschool. Nevertheless, she still is uncertain where her career will take her. She has interests in creating educational platforms in medicine, virtual reality, and mechanism of action videos for pharmaceuticals. She plans to keep her mind open to learning all different forms of media during her time as a BVIS student.
