Applying

Want to apply? See if you're a good fit for our program.

Our program is designed to support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who may not be able to access post-secondary education in traditional ways. We evaluate all applicants holistically.

Eligibility

Our program is designed to support students who may not be able to access post-secondary education in traditional ways. Applicants are not required to have grades in specific high school classes or to take standardized tests. Applicants are also not required to report reading or math levels.

To be eligible for the Co-Op program, applicants must:

  • Be a high school graduate
  • Be aged 18 or older
  • Have a diagnosed intellectual or developmental disability.

We will prioritize applicants with documented intellectual or developmental disabilities. Students with autism who benefit from similar levels of support as students with intellectual and developmental disabilities may apply. Contact us if you have questions about eligibility.

How to apply

You can apply for the Co-Op program using a specialized application form. Co-Op applicants do not use the “Common Application” that other UIC undergraduate applicants do.

Follow these steps if you are interested in applying:

Step 1: Review the Information Packet and Application Packet/ Video

Step 2: Complete and submit the application form. The application form has two stages. You will share the following information:

  • Personal Information
  • Personal Statement Responses
  • Recommender Information

Step 3: Participate in a video or in-person interview with Co-Op team members.
