Caitlin Crabb

Meet Caitlin

Caitlin received her Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2010. Her MPH thesis was related to breast, colorectal, and cervical cancers screening for women with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Kansas. Following her MPH, Caitlin worked in several different areas within healthcare including health economics, hospital research compliance, and commercial health insurance. Caitlin has always had an interest in disability and decided to finally pursue this passion at UIC. Caitlin has worked as graduate research assistant and teaching assistant for an undergraduate course at UIC. Currently, she works as a visiting research specialist within the Institute on Disability and Human Development, the UCEDD for Illinois on projects such as non-emergency medical transportation, transitions out of state-operated developmental centers, and Medicaid managed care. Caitlin serves as the principal investigator on an evaluation of the home and community-based services settings rule training program for people with disabilities and family members. Outside of work and school, Caitlin stays active in the intellectual and developmental disabilities community by participating in Best Buddies Citizens Illinois and e-Buddies. Caitlin’s primary interest is home and community-based services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, specifically the quality of care provided by paid personal support workers within the community. Caitlin successfully completed her preliminary examination in the spring of 2018 and is now working on her dissertation proposal.
