{"id":20665,"date":"2020-03-21T12:22:05","date_gmt":"2020-03-21T12:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/a-message-to-ahs-students-from-dean-bo-fernhall-re-the-stay-at-home-order\/"},"modified":"2020-03-21T12:22:05","modified_gmt":"2020-03-21T12:22:05","slug":"a-message-to-ahs-students-from-dean-bo-fernhall-re-the-stay-at-home-order","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/a-message-to-ahs-students-from-dean-bo-fernhall-re-the-stay-at-home-order\/","title":{"rendered":"A message to AHS students from Dean Bo Fernhall re. the stay-at-home order"},"template":"","news_categories":[27,11],"news_tags":[],"class_list":["post-20665","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-covid-19","news_categories-student-news"],"acf":{"intro_text_subtitle":"","intro_text_body":"<p>As I am sure you know by now,\u00a0yesterday\u00a0Governor Pritzker announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.illinois.gov\/Pages\/news-item.aspx?ReleaseID=21288\">a stay-at-home order for Illinois<\/a>.\u00a0This order is an important part of the strategy to impede the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and \u201cflatten the curve.\u201d\u00a0 I urge all of you to take this directive very seriously and stay at home.\u00a0Of course, there are several exemptions to the order, including seeking medical help, going to the grocery store, etc.\u00a0Please make sure you maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet when you do leave your home.\u00a0We are all responsible for doing our very best to help stem this pandemic. A helpful tool for estimating your risk of being infected with COVID-19 is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/c19check.com\/start\">C19check.com\/start<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our buildings are closed and locked, thus our classrooms and instructional facilities are not accessible.\u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/library.uic.edu\/covid-19\">university libraries are also closed<\/a> and will reopen as the situation permits.\u00a0We hope and expect that all of you can access instruction online from your homes when classes resume March 30. Please contact Eileen Doran at <a href=\"mailto:eileend2@uic.edu\">eileend2@uic.edu<\/a> if you cannot access online instruction from home.\u00a0Although some computer stations may open as the university libraries reopen (be advised that the libraries may not open), for students who do not have home internet access, it is our preference that you do not come campus if we can identify alternate solutions.\u00a0Do not try to access our buildings for study, lab work or other non-essential duties.\u00a0Do continue to monitor updates on <a href=\"http:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/inside-ahs-news?category=4688\">Inside AHS<\/a>,\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uic.edu\/coronavirus\">UIC Today website<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.uillinois.edu\/view\/7815?ACTION=POST_LIST\">University of Illinois System<\/a> website.<\/p>\n<p>Please be patient and do heed the stay-at-home order, maintain social distancing when you are not at home, and stay safe.
