{"id":21851,"date":"2024-01-02T15:33:56","date_gmt":"2024-01-02T15:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/invitation-to-nia-funded-checa-scientist-program\/"},"modified":"2024-01-02T15:33:56","modified_gmt":"2024-01-02T15:33:56","slug":"invitation-to-nia-funded-checa-scientist-program","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/invitation-to-nia-funded-checa-scientist-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Invitation to NIA-funded CHECA Scientist Program"},"template":"","news_categories":[18],"news_tags":[],"class_list":["post-21851","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-research"],"acf":{"intro_text_subtitle":"","intro_text_body":"<p>UIC\u2019s new Center for Health Equity in Cognitive Aging \u2013 Joining Population Science and Health Promotion <a href=\"https:\/\/cognitivehealthequity.uic.edu\">(CHECA)<\/a> is looking for early career investigators who are interested in a career development program that includes pilot funding.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for Letter of Intent submission is fast approaching.<\/p>\n<p>We invite applications from early career faculty from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups, who would be interested in enhancing their knowledge of behavioral and social pathways to AD\/ADRD in the context of dementia care and caregiving. Funds are available for investigator-initiated research projects to enhance the well-being of adults aging with or at risk for AD\/ADRD and those who care for them.<\/p>\n<p>CHECA is one of the 18 Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research <a href=\"https:\/\/rcmar.org\">(RCMAR)<\/a> funded by the National Institute of Aging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nia.nih.gov\">(NIA)<\/a> of NIH. CHECA aims to enhance research and mentoring infrastructure at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and to promote a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible aging research community in social and behavioral sciences on Alzheimer\u2019s disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD). The CHECA Scientist program involves pilot research funding, workshop participation, and mentoring as they relate to cognitive aging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter of Intent (LOI) submission by Monday, January 8, 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSf1ojEyXpdn7jCwcJlo9gtweoUrUQZnE_fIgENO5C3B0_s2Vw\/viewform\">here<\/a>.
