{"id":27185,"date":"2025-07-25T12:35:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T17:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/?post_type=news&#038;p=27185"},"modified":"2025-07-30T07:03:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T12:03:07","slug":"2025-association-of-medical-illustrators-ami-awards","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/2025-association-of-medical-illustrators-ami-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) Awards"},"template":"","news_categories":[26,12,15],"news_tags":[],"class_list":["post-27185","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-bvis","news_categories-faculty-and-staff-news","news_categories-honors-and-recognition"],"acf":{"intro_text_subtitle":"","intro_text_body":"<p class=\"xmsonormal\">Congratulations to all of those who received awards at the 2025 Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) Meeting in Grand Rapids, MI:<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><em><strong>Salon Awards (Professional)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">BVIS alumnus <strong>David Ehlert\u00a0<\/strong>(BVIS 1997) <strong>&amp; Cognition Studio, Inc<\/strong>. received an Award of Merit in the Interactive Media: Didactic\/Instructional Commercial category for Adaptive Immune Modulation Therapy (AIM-T) Explained<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">BVIS alumni <strong>Kate Zumach<\/strong> (BVIS 2017) and <strong>Anne Hughes<\/strong> (BVIS 2022) received an Award of Excellence in the Simulators, Prosthetics and Sculptural Products category for Travel Kit for Oncology Nurse Educators &#8211; Understanding the Pancreas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">BVIS alumni <strong>Regan Falin<\/strong> (BVIS 2021) and <strong>Amicus Visual Solutions (Michael Havranek <\/strong>(BVIS 2000) received Social Impact award for Handcuff Neuropathy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Swarm Interactive <\/strong>(team including work from BVIS alumnus and former BVIS faculty member <strong>Scott Dixon (BVIS 2006), <\/strong>as well as BVIS alumni <strong>Casey Garr Taylor (BVIS 2019), <\/strong>and<strong> Edith March (BVIS 2019)<\/strong>) received an Award of Excellence in the Illustrated Text category for <em>The Foundation and Art of Robotic Surgery.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><em><strong>Other AMI Awards<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>BVIS alumni <strong>Dena Matthews <\/strong>(BVIS 1998), <strong>Rachel Bajema <\/strong>(BVIS 2005), and <strong>Leah Lebowicz<\/strong> (BVIS 2012) were named Fellows of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI). The designation of Fellow is a formal recognition of those AMI members who have generously contributed their skill, time, and effort to the Association by performing volunteer service.
