Three overarching high\u2011priority strategic research areas are prioritized as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technology and Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Advancing diagnostic safety and quality through the innovation and development of diagnostic technologies, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artificial intelligence\u2013enabled tools, such as large language models<\/li>\n<li>Telehealth and other digital health solutions<\/li>\n<li>Point of care diagnostic testing<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced data sources, sensors, and analytic methods<\/li>\n<li>Other novel diagnostic tests, tools, or measurement approaches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Infrastructure and System Design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strengthening diagnostic performance by improving system-level infrastructure, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordination of care across the full diagnostic trajectory<\/li>\n<li>Integration of diagnostic processes, clinical tools, and patient-reported information<\/li>\n<li>Improved communication among patients, clinicians, and care teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Advancing the Science of Diagnosis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enhancing the evidence base and scientific foundations of diagnosis by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving uptake of clinical guidelines and follow-up of abnormal diagnostic results<\/li>\n<li>Expanding high-quality evidence, particularly from real-world data sources<\/li>\n<li>Modernizing scientific approaches to disease recognition and diagnostic reasoning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See more information <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/funding\/find-a-fit-for-your-research\/highlighted-topics\/96\">here,<\/a> including participating NIH Institutes\/Centers and their specific interests relating to the Highlighted Topic.<\/p>\n<p>Apply to a\u00a0highlighted topic\u00a0through an appropriate <a class=\"x_x_x_OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/funding\/nih-guide-for-grants-and-contracts\/parent-announcements\" href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/funding\/nih-guide-for-grants-and-contracts\/parent-announcements\">NIH Parent Funding Announcement<\/a>\u00a0or another broad NIH opportunity available on <a class=\"x_x_x_new-domain x_x_x_OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/grants.gov\/\" href=\"https:\/\/grants.gov\/\">Grants.gov<\/a>.
