{"id":32730,"date":"2026-09-15T11:19:20","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T16:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/?post_type=news&#038;p=32730"},"modified":"2026-09-15T11:19:20","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T16:19:20","slug":"call-for-translational-science-pilot-project-applications","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ahs.uic.edu\/inside-ahs\/news-stories\/call-for-translational-science-pilot-project-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Translational Science Pilot Project Applications"},"template":"","news_categories":[65],"news_tags":[],"class_list":["post-32730","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-inside-ahs"],"acf":{"intro_text_subtitle":"","hide_subtitle":false,"intro_text_body":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>A 1 year award up to <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">$30,000<\/span>\u00a0<strong>$50,000 <\/strong>for innovative, solution-seeking projects<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(51, 51, 51)\">Program Goals:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The<\/span> <span data-ogsc=\"rgb(199, 37, 18)\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ccts.uic.edu\/funding\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-outlook-id=\"3539d390-4a25-4907-816a-0bd00f05108a\">CCTS Pilot Program<\/a><\/span> <span data-ogsc=\"black\">seeks to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Foster outstanding new translational science projects at UIC that support research development to address urgent research needs or to develop preliminary data that can be used to launch new NIH or other externally-funded research proposals<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Encourage interdisciplinary teams of investigators that span UIC Colleges and campus to develop collaborations or new research avenues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Promote interactions between basic, clinical, community, and social scientists<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Support research collaborations with community partners and organizations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(51, 51, 51)\">Award Details:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Awards will be for 1 year starting June 1, 2027<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding up to $50,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>We anticipate funding 5 proposals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(51, 51, 51)\">Focus on Translational Science<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The CCTS Pilot\u00a0Program will focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/ccts.uic.edu\/about\/translational-science\/\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-outlook-id=\"7efd43e2-c7cd-4e48-8cbc-2e7449652d24\">translational<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ccts.uic.edu\/about\/translational-science\/\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-outlook-id=\"19f3b4ae-dc65-48b8-8c75-1a9fc196e6ee\">\u00a0science<\/a> projects that may fit one of the following characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Produce generalizable solutions for common and persistent challenges \u2013 that is, develop innovations that address persistent challenges to advancing translational progress that are found across multiple research initiatives or projects, or span research on multiple diseases or conditions<\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Emphasize innovation in research design and implementation in pursuit of advancing research across multiple diseases and conditions; or that emphasize innovation in research team interactions that facilitate and support the quality and impact of research<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Leverage cross-disciplinary team science<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Enhance the efficiency and speed of translational research by implementing evidence-informed practices and scientific and operational innovation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(51, 51, 51)\">2027 Priority Areas:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Clinical translational <em>science<\/em>; that is projects that focus on the process of turning research results into real-world applications to improve health<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Methods to improve the clinical translational research process<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Innovative Implementation Science methods that promote the uptake of research findings into routine healthcare in clinical or policy contexts<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Patient and community-identified health issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-ogsc=\"black\">A lifespan, critical period perspective<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-ogsb=\"white\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(51, 51, 51)\">Application Process &amp;
