Angel Love Miles receives UMD awards

DHD and OT postdoctoral fellow Angel Love Miles was awarded the 2016 University of Maryland (UMD) Graduate Student Distinguished Service Award and the 2016 Ethnic Minority Achievement Graduate Student Award in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of disability rights and her efforts to create campus-wide awareness about the intersectionality of disability, race, class and gender.

Though Miles was not able to attend the awards ceremony on Friday, April 21, she did write an acceptance speech that was shared at the ceremony. In it she called on the university to be more inclusive of people with disabilities at every level of the institution.
