Disability studies doctoral student Janie Mejias is quoted in this Chicago Tribune piece covering the second annual Haute Dog Chicago, a fashion show that benefited Canine Companions for Independence (CCI).
“I have an increased sense of security now that I have Haven. With her by my side, I know if I drop an important item, such as my phone or my house keys, my service dog will retrieve them for me quickly and efficiently. She is my Haven, both figuratively and literally,” said Mejias who was paired with CCI service dog Haven in 2015.
