Tuesday, September 10, 2019
KN PhD students Cecily Byrne and Amy McNeil, together with UIC librarian Amelia Brunskill and KN faculty Tim Koh and Giamila Fantuzzi published a systematic review on the expression of genes in the muscles of individuals with cachexia/sarcopenia in the journal PLOS ONE.
This is the first review to systematically evaluate evidence on markers of muscle wasting and inflammation in individuals with cachexia/sarcopenia associated with cancer, COPD and other chronic conditions. Funding for the publication of this Open Access article was partially provided by a ROAAP award from the UIC Library.
