Precision Brain Health: Merging Genetic Insights with Nutritional Neuroscience

May 20, 2026

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM America/Chicago

The University of Illinois System and the Illinois Mexican American Students Initiative (I‑MMÁS) invite faculty, staff, and graduate/professional students to attend the upcoming online symposium:

Precision Brain Health: Merging Genetic Insights with Nutritional Neuroscience

This virtual forum brings together medical students, faculty, and researchers to examine one of the most rapidly evolving areas in medicine — the intersection of genetics, nutrition, and brain health. The symposium will explore how the food we eat influences the information processed by the brain, and how genomic variability shapes nutritional needs and neurological outcomes.

Attendees will engage with emerging evidence across topics such as:

  • Neuronal development, healing, and cognitive neurobiology
  • Nutrition’s role in neurological disorders
  • Gut–brain–immune interactions and behavioral regulation
  • Implications for obesity, eating disorders, and aggressive behavior
  • New and emerging nutritional strategies for brain health
