You are invited to register for the 2026 UIC Annual Career Development Symposium hosted by the UIC Postdoctoral Association and Your Future in Science.
As part of the symposium, we are accepting abstracts for a lightning talk competition that will showcase postdoc and graduate student research in all disciplines from across the Chicago area. Selected presenters will deliver a 3-5 minute research talk designed to engage a broad audience and communicate the significance of their work. Travel awards will be presented to the winning talks. To apply to participate in the lighting talk competition, register for the Symposium and submit your abstract, here. The registration form includes a link to submit a ~200-word abstract by Friday, September 4. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Friday, September 11.
The event will also feature:
- An interactive workshop with Pam Schilling from Archer Career
- Panel discussions about understanding financial decisions in career planning and improving your storytelling
- An interactive session on mentorship
- Professional headshots (with limited availability on a first come first serve basis)
- A networking reception, and more!
