Yochai Eisenberg and Delphine Labbé awarded grant to advance ADA implementation and accessibility in U.S. cities
Dr. Eisenberg and Labbé are Co-PIs on a new grant entitled: Accessible Cities for All: Translating Knowledge to Support Better ADA Implementation. In this five-year, $1.25 million dollar project funded by the National Institute on Disability Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research, the UIC team will develop and disseminate knowledge translation tools built from previous research findings to improve the implementation of the ADA by local governments in U.S. communities and support effective engagement of people with disabilities in advisory committees in public agencies. This proposal will advance the spirit of the ADA and make cities more accessible by empowering local communities and residents with disabilities with the knowledge, tools, and skills to effectively plan for and remove barriers to community living and participation.
