HUD publishes findings from a national study co-led by Joy Hammel

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved and published the findings from a national study conducted by OT and DHD professor Joy Hammel and CUPPA associate professor Janet Smith that  examines rental housing discrimination for people with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric disabilities (referred to as mental disabilities by HUD).  View the federal report here.

This is the first research project on housing discrimination to train and utilize people with mental disabilities (people with I/DD and psychiatric disabilities) as testers, and in action research to develop the research questions, methods and interpret findings.
