In-person activities and events during Democratic National Convention
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be bringing over 50,000 visitors to Chicago between Aug. 19 and 22. In light of this, the university has granted its employees the flexibility to work from home during these dates. Colleges and units are also being encouraged to reschedule campus activities outside of these dates to accommodate DNC events being hosted at the United Center and McCormick Place.
To this end, we propose moving AHS orientation events, initially planned on campus between Aug. 19 and Aug. 22, to Friday, Aug. 23. This adjustment will allow us to better plan our activities and avoid any logistical challenges posed by the convention. On Friday, Aug. 23, we will arrange a communal lunch at AHSB, providing a seamless continuation of program-specific student orientation activities.
