Hello AHS students,
Welcome/welcome back to UIC for 2026-27!
I’m Amelia Brunskill, the liaison librarian for the Applied Health Sciences, and I wanted to share some information about library events this week, and also some quick tips/reminders about the library that I hope might be helpful.
Library Expo and Tours (Library of the Health Sciences)
This Tuesday (8/25), from 11am-2pm, we have tours and information booths at the Library of the Health Sciences (1750 W Polk St).
You can learn about the Library’s services, pet therapy dog Pawfficer HAM, enjoy snacks and enter a raffle to win prizes!

Kits for Class (Richard J. Daley Library)
Also this Tuesday, from 11am-12pm, you can stop by the East Entrance of the Richard J. Daley Library Lobby to pick up a FREE kit full of class supplies and library swag* to help get you through the fall semester.
*Kits are available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. If it is raining, we will distribute kits in the lobby of the library.

Lunch with a Librarian: Tech Talk (Richard J. Daley Library)
This Wednesday (8/26), from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, join us for a session of the UIC Library’s Lunch with a Librarian workshop series. Stay for the full 1-hour session to get a free Jimmy Johns sandwich!*
We welcome new students and those wanting to get more familiar with UIC’s technology to a workshop where you will learn about how to navigate the tech you’ll need during your time at UIC, from sending emails using Outlook to printing on the Library’s Wepa devices.
This event will take place in Rm 1-470.

Quick tips/reminders from the Library:
- You can reserve a study room for individual or small group use at the Library of the Health Sciences, or a group study room at the Daley library
- You can email me with any questions that you have about the library or use my online calendar to set up an appointment to get help with your research or to learn more about the library.
- We have a page of information about our accessibility services at the library, that includes information on our physical facilities, assistance with research and materials, and transportation options.
- You can set up an interlibrary loan account to request articles. When it asks for your library card number, that is the number listed on your i-Card after Library.
- We have day use lockers available at the Library of the Health Sciences, and we also have a new and more extensive snack and drinks vending area on the first floor.
