Mark your calendars: Crip Pandemic Life Instagram Live and discussion series

I am thrilled to share that the full collection of Crip Pandemic Life: A Tapestry, edited by Alyson Patsavas and Theodora Danylevich is now out at with Lateral: https://csalateral.org/archive/section/crip-pandemic-life/

Published across two issues (Fall 2022 and Spring 2023), the collection includes 24 creative, essay, and praxis contributions that reflect on pandemic experiences. It includes work by DHD PhD candidate Carmen Cutler and DHD student Corbin Outlaw as well as several alumni, including Alison Kopit, Sandi Yi and Hailee Yoshizaki-Gibbons.

To celebrate this collection, we have a series of conversations planned this summer. The first two will take place as Instagram Live discussions. Please mark your calendars for:

Crip Pandemic (Instagram) Live Part I
Thursday, June 22 at 2 pm CST at www.instagram.com/uic.dcc/
Join contributors Hailee Yoshizaki-Gibbons and Jessie Male for a conversation about pandemic loss, grief and remembering.

Crip Pandemic (Instagram) Live Part II
Thursday, June 29 at 2 pm CST at www.instagram.com/uic.dcc/
Join contributors Kim Fernandes and Caroline He for an Instagram Live conversation about space, place, and survival.

Each discussion will include a brief overview of the contributor's pieces and an invitation to think about the shared themes that run across their work. Both of these events will be hosted by Corbin Outlaw and the Disability Cultural Center @uic.dcc

CART will be provided.

Contact moutla3@uic.edu with questions and/or any access needs or requests.

This series of conversations is the result of a collaboration with Margaret Fink and the UIC Disability Cultural Center and made possible by Awards for Creative Activity in the Fine, Performing, and Applied Arts.
