Now Hiring: Hourly Research Assistant — UIC IDHD (Hybrid/Chicago)

Join our team to support:

1) A program evaluation of employment-training programs for adults with developmental disabilities.

2) Research on the WAVE family-caregiver intervention. This hourly RA will assist with day-to-day research/evaluation tasks and team coordination.

Details

Hours: 10-20 hrs/week (flexible within M–F, 9–5 CT / evenings ok)

Location: Remote and On-site: DHD/1640 W. Roosevelt Rd., Room 713

Start/End: Start from September 2025; through May 2026, with potential to extend

Supervisor: Kelly Hsieh, PhD

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature searches and brief summaries
  • Build/clean datasets; maintain spreadsheets (Excel/Sheets); basic stats in SPSS
  • Support surveys (Qualtrics/REDCap); export data
  • Coordinate and conduct interviews/focus groups; take clear, action-oriented notes
  • Draft slides/one-pagers; help with plain-language materials and accessibility checks
  • Schedule meetings; manage agendas/follow-ups in Zoom and Outlook Calendar
  • Maintain tidy file structure and version control in Box/OneDrive
  • Support pre-/post-production for short training videos
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current graduate students in disability studies, public health, education, psychology, social science, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and document formatting (Docs/Word, Slides/PowerPoint)
  • Clear written and verbal communication; professional email etiquette
  • Ability to handle confidential data and meet deadlines

Plus (not required)

  • Experience with Qualtrics/REDCap, SPSS, or Dedoose
  • Experience producing short-form video content
  • Plain-language writing; accessibility mindset (e.g., headings, alt text)
