Introduction
KN professor Giamila Fantuzzi and KN postdoctoral fellow Jingbo Pang coauthored a study with faculty and fellows from the UIC Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology titled, "Activin in acute pancreatitis: Potential risk-stratifying marker and novel therapeutic target" in Scientific Reports.
The study shows that the molecular message Activin can be used as a risk-stratifying marker in patients with the inflammatory disease acute pancreatitis and that Activin is a potential therapeutic target for treatment of severe acute pancreatitis.
