Sajad Askari and Yochai Eisenberg publish new study validating Project Sidewalk
Researchers from the Department of Disability and Human Development's Community Health and Disability Inclusion Research and Training Program published a new study in the Urban Science Journal, titled "Validating Pedestrian Infrastructure Data: How Well Do Street-View Imagery Audits Compare to Government Field Data?". Sajad Askari is a PhD student mentored by Dr. Yochai Eisenberg. The study highlighted how data from Project Sidewalk, an virtual sidewalk auditing tool, compares with data from local government in the field audits. The authors found that Project Sidewalk data can be a reliable alternative to government data for most pedestrian infrastructure features. The study also highlighted how that the lack of standardized severity scoring limits comparisons between datasets.
