Tanvi Bhatt Leads Health Initiative at India Day Celebration in Naperville

Tanvi Bhatt organized a comprehensive healthcare fair during the India Day celebration on August 10, 2024. Dr. Bhatt, accompanied by four doctoral students, two research coordinators, and several undergraduate students, conducted a battery of physical and cognitive health assessments to promote healthy living. Over 100 attendees participated in these health check-ups within five hours, with middle-aged and older adults being the popular group of participants.

The health fair featured multiple testing stations, including assessments for both physical and cognitive health. Physical health evaluations included rapid blood sugar testing, blood pressure measurement, osteoporosis screening, body mass index assessment, and mobility, strength, and balance tests. Cognitive health assessments covered memory, language, attention, and orientation. Participants aged 55 and above were prioritized, and each received categorical scores for the tests administered. Informative pamphlets and resources were also distributed, covering topics related to rehabilitation and ongoing research at the Fall Prevention Lab. The Fall Prevention Lab’s healthcare stall drew significant attention, and both organizers and attendees widely appreciated the dedicated efforts of the lab team.
