UIC Department of Occupational Therapy awarded a 2020 Bridge to the Faculty fellowship
The UIC Department of Occupational Therapy was awarded a 2020 Bridge to the Faculty fellowship as part of the Bridge to the Faculty recruitment program designed to attract underrepresented postdoctoral scholars with the goal of a direct transition to a tenure-track junior faculty position after two years. The UIC Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity received close to 40 proposals and not all were funded. The proposal was led by Yolanda Suarez-Balcazar with input from several OT faculty and the OT Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Academic (IDEA) Committee. This campus-wide competitive program will provide three-years of funding (two as a postdoc and one as faculty) for an individual from Black or Latinx background who will join the department no later than August 2021.
