UIC Department of Physical Therapy Hosts Inaugural Alumni Event
On October 10, 2024, the UIC Department of Physical Therapy hosted its 1st Annual Alumni Event at Room AHSB 710, 1919 W. Taylor Street. The evening was a wonderful gathering for alumni, students, and professionals to network, learn, and reconnect with the department. All members for the Cognitive Motor Balance and Rehabilitation Lab attended this event.
Suzann K. Campbell, PT, PhD, FAPTA, Professor Emerita at UIC, delivered an inspiring lecture on the topic: “Why Does It Take So Long for Research that Can Transform Practice to Move Into the Clinic?” Dr. Campbell, a renowned expert in pediatric physical therapy and neurophysiology, shared insights drawn from her groundbreaking work, including her development of the Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP) and her leadership in advancing clinical research translation. Her lecture highlighted the challenges and opportunities in bridging the gap between research and practical application, sparking a lively Q&A session.
