Yochai Eisenberg lead author of article on active travel among people with disabilities in the U.S.

Yochai Eisenberg published an article in the Disability and Health Journal, titled, "Quantifying active travel among people with disabilities in the US." Dr. Eisenberg and colleagues found that approximately 15% of people with disabilities walk or wheel to get around in their community and that those active travelers are walking/wheeling for greater than 30 minutes a day on average. However, active travelers are also part of some of the most marginalized socioeconomic groups and so while active travel could improve daily PA it should be accompanied with additional research to better understand the potential positive and negative social, behavioral, and participation impacts of active travel on people with disabilities.
