Yochai Eisenberg presents at a hearing for the City of Chicago
On July 21, 2025, Yochai Eisenberg presented findings from his research on sidewalk accessibility at a subject matter hearing for the City of Chicago's Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety. The hearing focused on how the City can improve processes and systems for data collection as well as improving the efficiency of sidewalk maintenance and repairs. The hearing also highlighted the critical need for accessible sidewalks for people with disabilities and older adults. Dr. Eisenberg highlighted the value of data from the crowdsourcing platform Project Sidewalk and how several wards have already been using the data to prioritize sidewalk improvements.
