COVID-19 post-exposure protocol change

Please be aware of the most recent change to our campus COVID-19 guidelines for individuals who have had close contact to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19. Note that this updated guidance no longer requires quarantine following an exposure; however, those who are exposed must be strictly masked in all settings on campus and test. As such, we ask for your continued partnership in strictly enforcing masking in the required areas on campus so we can best protect our campus members and especially those at high risk of severe COVID-19 illness.

Our team has put together a document for campus members, see link below, which not only outlines the new guidance, but also provides information on what to do when an individual tests positive for COVID-19 or when they exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 (but have not yet tested). Our hope is that this document serves as a helpful and comprehensive reference tool. Also attached is a companion guide to the original document for those who prefer a more visual presentation of the information. This document also includes some helpful information about testing resources both on campus and external to the university.

UIC COVID-19 Campus Guidelines Overview

Please note, the guidance at the link above is for UIC campus members who are not UI Health affiliates, not engaged in patient-facing clinical activities in the healthcare setting, and who are not engaged in research studies that require contact with research subjects. UIH affiliates and campus members with the aforementioned responsibilities should contact University Health Services for further guidance.

If you have any questions related to the link above, please feel free to email the CTEP team inbox uic_contact_tracing@uic.edu.

Best regards and stay well,
