Vanessa Oddo is the lead author of a study published in the Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health titled “Changes in precarious employment in the United States: A longitudinal analysis.” Read the UIC news release: today.uic.edu/study-reveals-precarious-employment-on-the-rise-long-before-covid-19.
In addition to documenting long-term and widespread decreases in employment quality in the U.S., this is the first study to use longitudinal, individual-level data to describe employment precariousness over time. Importantly, they found that precarious employment disproportionally impacts women and those from racialized and less-educated populations.
