Tanvi Bhatt awarded $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense

Tanvi Bhatt, director of the Cognitive Motor Balance Rehabilitation Lab, has been awarded a $1,599,997.00 (over three years) grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to conduct her new project: “Functional Balance Intervention (FBI) for Physical and Cognitive Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis” (MS230142, Start Date: 9/1/24 ).

The three-year project will investigate the effects of a custom-developed four-month balance and exercise program (FBI) on physical function, cognitive function, dual-tasking ability and quality of life among people with Multiple Sclerosis, compared to a control group completing a four-month stretching program.

This collaborative effort includes esteemed co-investigators from AHS (Robert Motl, Alex Aruin, Elizabeth Peterson and Edward Wang) as well as prominent researchers from the UIC College of Medicine (Olusola Ajilore and Jeffrey Loeb).
