Adaptive Leisure Going Virtual

Health benefits of adaptive online leisure-time physical activity for people with disabilities in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This project is conducted in partnership with the community-based organization Adaptive Adventures. Through interviews with individuals living with disabilities and staff members, as well as a large survey with members, this project aims to explore the impact of offering virtual adaptive leisure-time physical and recreational activities to people with physical disabilities.

Specifically, this project has 3 objectives:

  1. to understand the perceived physical, mental, and social health benefits of online adaptive leisure-time physical and recreational activities
  2. to document the challenges and facilitators to participation
  3. to identify the strategies that support participation in virtual adaptive leisure-time physical and recreational activities
