Download iCal FileJoin the UIC Disability Cultural Center, the Chicagoland Disabled People of Color Coalition (supported by UIC’s Institute on Disability and Human Development), and the Center for Racial and Disability Justice for the sixth annual Accessible Juneteenth. This celebration honors the brilliance, joy, and leadership of the Black disability community.
Accessible Juneteenth is designed to be a welcoming, sensory aware, and community centered experience for Black disabled, neurodivergent, and Deaf people across the African Diaspora, along with all who join in solidarity.

About Accessible Juneteenth 2026
DJ Matt returns with a set curated for this year’s celebration. The showcase will feature performances by Double AA, Cherlnell Lane, Jada Thompson, Victoria Djembe, and Miss Mamas. Food will be provided by Cook It Mama Café, which offers sandwiches and salads with vegan and gluten free options. You will also be able to connect with Black owned and disability owned or disability friendly organizations and businesses.

Access Information
ASL interpretation and captioning will be provided during the showcase. A quiet, cool down room will be available throughout the event. To support immunocompromised community members, masks are required indoors. Free masks will be available on site. For accessibility requests or event questions, contact dcc@uic.edu.

Red Line
Exit at Chicago Avenue. Walk two blocks west to Access Living or take the 66 bus to Clark Street.
Brown Line
Exit at Chicago Avenue. Walk two blocks east to Access Living or take the 66 bus to Clark Street.
Paratransit
Pace, WAV, and other paratransit vehicles may pick up and drop off directly in front of Access Living. A dedicated space with a curb cut, tactile paving, and ramp is available.
Driving and Parking
Metered street parking is available on Chicago, LaSalle, Clark, Dearborn, and nearby streets. Several paid lots are also located within walking distance.
From the Northside near the lake
Follow US 41 or Lake Shore Drive to E Chicago Ave. Turn right and continue to 115 W. Chicago Ave.
From the Southside
Take I 90 West to exit 50B. Follow signs for East Ohio Street. Turn left on N LaSalle and right on W Chicago Ave.
From the Westside
Take I 290 East to I 90 or 94 West. Exit at 50B toward East Ohio Street. Turn left on N LaSalle and right on W Chicago Ave.
From the Northwest Side
Take I 94 East to the express lanes toward Ohio Street. Continue to West Ohio Street. Turn left on N LaSalle and right on W Chicago Ave.
