Presentation Abstract & Objectives
In this panel discussion, three recent occupational therapy graduates critically reflect on how they have integrated cultural humility and cultural responsiveness into occupational therapy practice with diverse populations. The panelists also present practice-based case examples demonstrating how they addressed social determinants of health, client contexts, and systemic barriers to support occupational justice and promote participation in meaningful daily occupations, consistent with AOTA and ACOTE standards.
At the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Identify strategies for integrating a client's cultural values and routines into OT goals.
- Discuss ways to support the client in addressing social determinants of health.
- Identify practical steps for developing cultural humility and responsiveness.
The Scholarship of Practice (SOP) lecture series features presentations designed to share evidence-based knowledge relevant to occupational therapy practice. Department of Occupational Therapy is a licensed CE provider by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
