Dr. Sofia Cienfuegos is a researcher studying the effects of intermittent fasting on weight loss and cardiometabolic health. She completed her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) under the supervision of Dr. Krista Varady. Her research investigated the impact of 4- and 6-hour time-restricted feeding on weight and cardiometabolic health in adults with obesity, and recently she is focused on understanding the role of intermittent fasting in females with polycystic ovary syndrome. Her research findings have been published in reputable journals such as Cell Metabolism, Annal Reviews and Nature. Dr. Cienfuegos has actively engaged in teaching at UIC, delivering lectures on nutrition-related topics to both graduate and undergraduate students. Her expertise has led to invitations to speak at conferences and seminars, positioning her as an emerging expert in the field of weight management and metabolic health.
