About
Meredith Wekesser, PhD, CMPC joined UIC in 2023 and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Performance, Exercise, and Sport Psychology master’s concentration. She completed her PhD in Kinesiology from Michigan State University. Meredith’s teaching interests include sport and performance psychology, health and wellness psychology, and research methods in kinesiology. Meredith is committed to creating innovative learning environments, and she has been awarded an Excellence in Teaching Citation. Meredith is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® and has provided sport and performance psychology consultations with a variety of populations including Division I collegiate athletes, youth athletes, and musicians. Her research focuses on positive youth development through sport, with an emphasis on the coach’s role in fostering environments conducive to holistic athlete development. In addition to youth sport and coaching, Meredith’s research interests include adapted sport and measurement in sport psychology. In her spare time, Meredith loves to travel, train for triathlons, and spend quality time with her partner, Chris, and her dog, Georgia.
