Angela Odoms-Young receives the 2019 Mary C. Egan Award from the American Public Health Association

Angela Odoms-Young, associate professor of kinesiology and nutrition received the 2019 Mary C. Egan Award from the American Public Health Association’s Food and Nutrition Section for her outstanding contributions as a public health nutritionist.

The award was presented at the American Public Health Association Conference & Expo in Philadelphia in November.

Odoms-Young studies the social, cultural and environmental determinants of dietary behaviors and diet-related diseases in low-income and minority populations.

Her research has focused on the effects of the new WIC food package; strategies to improve WIC participation; the effectiveness of community-based participatory weight loss intervention in African American women; and community engagement in promoting food justice.
