“UIC and University of Illinois Health does transforming research to improve the lives of patients and research participants,” Boyd said. “The expansion of research enables a wide range of faculty and researchers to transform health care.”

In 2020, Boyd integrated Epic electronic health records into UIC’s research infrastructure, fueling a ninefold increase in clinical studies and an eightfold increase in research participants from 2020 to 2025.

He is also part of an interdisciplinary team using artificial intelligence to unify data from a broad range of health professions and create novel datasets.
