About
Julia Bates is an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) with 5 years of clinical experience and teaching in the areas of community based assistive technology and environmental modifications. Julia brings the knowledge obtained in her previous work doing home remodeling and property maintenance and her clinical skills to the Assistive Technology Unit to provide comprehensive and individualized services to people in the environments in which they live, work, and play to support participation in meaningful and essential daily activities. Julia recently completed her post professional Occupational Therapy doctorate at UIC, which included developing, implementing, and evaluating a case-based curriculum module on Everyday and Assistive Technology (ET-AT) for entry-level OT doctorate students at UIC.
Service to Community
Julia Bates provides client-centered and comprehensive Assistive Technology evaluations and equipment implementations in the areas of Home Modification, Worksite Modification, and Technologies for Independent Living.
