About
I am a Research Assistant Professor working with Dr. Sangeetha Madhavan in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois Chicago. My research investigates the mechanisms of walking recovery after neurological injury (current focus on stroke and multiple sclerosis) and how to harness these processes to improve gait rehabilitation. To address these questions, my research uses a multi-faceted approach with tools such as magnetic resonance imaging, transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, peripheral stimulation, electromyography, and behavioral and biomechanical measures. This approach is innovative because each tool provides unique information that, when combined, provides comprehensive and innovative insight into my research questions. My research also incorporates exercise interventions to improve walking and uses tools such as metabolic gas analysis, walking biomechanical measures, and physical activity monitoring.
