Daniel Cochrane, MA, MS, ATP, is a senior clinical instructor in the Department of Disability and Human Development. He teaches courses on assistive technology practice in the K12 school setting for the UIC Assistive Technology Certificate Program and supervises field experiences for students in the AT certificate. Dan is director of the QIAT-PS project for the Great Lakes ADA Center and currently working on developing a curriculum to teach high school and K12 transition students to self-determine their postsecondary accommodations, including assistive technology. Dan is Co-PI of the federally funded Assistive Technology Leaders in Special Education scholarship program, a joint effort between the AT Certificate Program in DHD and UIC's College of Education (Dr. Dan Maggin, PI) to provide special education endorsement and AT training to general educators. Dan is also Co-PI of the federally funded Co-Op Program, a postsecondary certificate program for students with intellectual disabilities (Dr. Tamar Heller, PI), currently working with City Colleges of Chicago to expand postsecondary options for students with ID. Dan also provides AT services to Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services - Vocational Rehabilitation customers who are referred to the UIC Assistive Technology Unit, and AT consultations to public schools and parents on a case-by-base basis.
